The outcome of your bet is determined by the number on which the ball will stop. Did you know that the term roulette is French in origin and it means “small wheel”?

The only thing that you may have some problems with understands all the various bets that you can place. There are two main types of roulette betting: inside bets and outside bets.

The inside bets are made up of the following:

• Straight number bet, which means that you have wagered on just one number. Your chances of winning are 37-to-1, and if you win you will receive a 35-to-1 payout.

• Split bets, which means you have bet on two numbers. These are not any random numbers, but two neighboring numbers on the roulette table layout.

• Street bets, which means that you have bet on 3 numbers. These three neighboring numbers are placed in a single, horizontal line on the table layout and are known as a street.

• Corner bets, which means that you have bet on four numbers. These four neighboring numbers form a square on the table layout.
